![]() ABOUT US Dr. Richard L. and Penelope W. Betz founded Hemispheres Antique Maps & Prints so as to turn a life long attraction to antique maps into a full-time pursuit as antique map dealers, after completing careers in education and over twenty years of international consulting in many areas of the world. Fourteen of those years were spent living and working in southern Africa and the Caribbean. Many other years were spent on consulting assignments elsewhere in Africa, and in the Caribbean, Asia, and the post Soviet Union. As owners of
Hemispheres Antique Maps & Prints,
we have an interest in all antique maps that depict historically
interesting and/or cartographically attractive areas, especially those
before 1700. Our special love are maps of Africa, early woodcuts, and
maps of exploration. We like to buy maps that have a story. We have been members of
the International Map Collectors' Society (IMCoS), the Philip Lee Phillips
Society of the Library of Congress, the Washington, DC Map Society, the
Boston Map Society, The Brussels International Map Collector Circle
(BIMCC), and
the International Antiquarian Mapsellers
Association (IAMA). Hemispheres Antique Maps & Prints is located on a beautiful lake in rural New Hampshire, United States, about two hours northwest of Boston. While we do not have a retail gallery, we welcome visitors to view our inventory or just to stop by to discuss maps. Please contact us for directions. We have exhibited at the following major fairs among others: The Annual Miami
International Map Fair ("the oldest event of its kind in the
Western Hemisphere") at the
Historical Museum of Southern Florida in Miami, Florida.
